City of Lafayette

The City of Lafayette is located in Tippecanoe County, IN, and is nestled approximately halfway between Chicago, IL and Indianapolis, IN, along the east banks of the Wabash River.  West Lafayette, just across the river, is home to Purdue University, which has a large impact on both communities. Together, Lafayette and West Lafayette are the primary contributors of the Lafayette, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area; which, as of the 2000 census, had a total population of 183,340 (Lafayette contributing 56,397 of the total).  As a result, Lafayette is the 215th largest metropolitan area in the United States.

As the owner of the Sagamore Parkway project, the City of Lafayette Engineering and Public Works department will be overseeing all phases of designs, providing both direction and final approval of layout.  Additionally, contribution from the Information Technology, Parks and Recreation, Traffic, Water Pollution Control, and Waterworks Departments will provided.
